4 Wheels, 5G: Telecom Network DesAign & Services Group Ready to Roll

IRVING – CEC Facilities Group has a four-wheeled plan to help businesses prepare for the imminent 5G shift.

CEC’s Telecom Network Design & Services (Telecom/NDS) group added 10 new vehicles to its fleet this month. All are now servicing CEC’s many in-building wireless and radio-system projects.

Smaller than CEC’s standard Ford Transit vehicles, these Ford Transit Connects still offer almost 150 cubic feet of equipment storage space for the typical in-building project. That’s the perfect formula for CEC’s In-building Wireless Services customers.

The Telecom/NDS group is a one-stop team dedicated to the full lifecycle of your building’s commercial wireless and public safety first responder radio systems. CEC and its trade partners begin with ROMs and construction feasibility surveys. Once designs are finalized with an RF plan and constructability site walk, CEC provides structured cabling, head-end construction, commissioning, integration, optimization, and on-air for commercial and public safety DAS.

CEC purchased these vehicles in anticipation of the 5G boom – indoor small cells are key 5G enablers. Demand for 5G-enhanced mobile broadband will grow to an estimated 2.8 billion subscribers in 2025.

“Companies will have to follow suit, or risk playing catch-up to their competitors,” said Rodney Wright, account executive. “Our group is already busy serving the leading-edge companies in healthcare, hospitality, retail, education, and sports arenas.”

Like their larger counterparts, the Transit Connect vehicles provide mobile installation stations for CEC’s roaming teams. While many projects take place in the bustling DFW Metroplex, the group has the capability to work throughout the United States. CEC has ongoing projects – and the capacity to perform those projects – in 14 states.

“Our team is ready to take a new construction or upgrade project from design to on-air,” Wright said. “We are truly a one-stop operation.”
