ENR Texas & Louisiana Names CEC a Top Specialty Contractor

IRVING – ENR’s Texas/Louisiana regional magazine announced its 2021 top specialty contractor rankings, and CEC climbed to No. 12 in the region.

CEC was one of four DFW-based contractors with a heavy focus on electrical projects in the top 15. Unlike the others, CEC has a broader focus, including mechanical, plumbing, technology, and fiber/in-building wireless infrastructure. ENR lists the latter two categories under electrical.

CEC reported regional revenue of $208 million, led by projects with a Central Texas vehicle manufacturer, a semiconductor manufacturer, two data centers, and two municipalities. In the past year, CEC also completed projects at Paycom’s corporate office in Grapevine, Fort Worth’s Hotel Drover, Restoration Hardware, and West Coast University.

“We have had continual growth during the past few years, especially with our new infrastructure and tenant improvement groups expanding rapidly,” President Brad Smith said. “We are proud of our teammates’ success on high-profile projects, and pleased to be named a top specialty contractor.”

This year’s ranking climbs three spots from 2020, and marks the eighth straight year CEC has been on the list. The regional rankings do not include project values from other regions. CEC’s Infrastructure team has several fiber projects in Montana, Colorado, New Mexico, and Georgia.

Known for its Operational Excellence guarantee to general contractors and owners, CEC is one of the leading contractors for companies in the advanced manufacturing, industrial, commercial, and renewable/sustainable energy markets.

CEC recently completed a full-MEP project for Restoration Hardware in Dallas. It’s one of roughly 75 projects CEC completed, or will complete, in 2021.
