Every morning when we dress for our CEC jobsites, we remember the men and women who put on another uniform to keep us free.
Saturday is Armed Forces Day, part of National Military Appreciation Month. Since 1950, Armed Forces Day has been a tandem observance with Memorial Day. While Memorial Day asks us to focus on those who died defending their country, Armed Forces Day provides an opportunity to honor veterans and active-duty soldiers alike.
Many of our teammates served, or are serving, in the United States’ military organizations. Today, we are celebrating a few distinct individuals.
Jeff Lewis,
Senior Mechanical Superintendent
Jeff served as an electronics technician aboard the USS Greenling, a fast-attack, nuclear-powered submarine stationed in Groton, Conn. One of the highlights of his career was participating in a UNITAS exercise, where American naval forces join with nine South American countries to practice maneuvers.

During a 1990 joint exercise, the Greenling sailed south from the Gulf of Mexico along the east side of South America, through the Strait of Magellan, then back north complete a journey around the entire continent of South America.
At CEC, Jeff is a Senior Mechanical Superintendent. A journeyman plumber, pipefitter, welder, and millwright, he is also a CEC leader in 5S and other Lean training. He has many projects under his belt, including TCU dorm renovations, the Statler Hilton hotel, and three separate hospital renovations/expansions.
Jordan Gonzalez,
Electrical Foreman

Jordan served seven years as an engineer and aviator. He was based in Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom. He uses his leadership and trades skills at CEC, leading tool installations and other project work for the past seven years. Some of his major achievements have been the American Airlines headquarters (Building 6) and the Olympus office buildings projects.
Jordan continues to serve his state as a member of the Texas Army National Guard.
Ricky Schedule,
Infrastructure CDL Equipment Operator

Like many others at CEC, Ricky served in Iraq as part of operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. Today, he’s working on CEC’s long-haul fiber team. He operates boring, excavation, fiber blowing, and trenching equipment for CEC’s long-haul fiber team.
*****
We also want to highlight one family with extensive military service. Ian James Aguinaldo is the grandson of Kelly and Lynn Hicks, who lead our infrastructure group. Ian has served in the Marines for almost three years. He’s a mechanic stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego.
Kelly and Lynn have two veteran sons as well. Sergeant Jeffrey Hicks was a fuel transport convoy driver in Iraq, and currently serves in the Army National Guard. He’s also a Texas state trooper. Sergeant Brandon Baricuatro also served in Iraq. He was in the first battalion of the 27th Infantry Regiment (the Wolfhounds).

Thank you to all the servicemen and servicewomen who keep us free! Without you, we could not build America stronger.
