MDN HUB Data Center Complex

This new 260,000-SF data center facility is located on a 375-acre track within Midlothian’s Railport Business Park. The site, which broke ground in June 2019, is a leading technology company’s second data center in Texas and 19th in the world. The development is one of the largest construction projects in North Texas. Once fully operational, the data center will employ a number of people in a variety of full-time and contractor roles, including computer technicians, engineers, and various food services, maintenance, and security roles.

Payroll and human resources technology company Paycom Software built a new a four-story, 150,000-SF Texas operations center campus on 14 acres in Grapevine, Texas. The office building includes a basement, a detached gymnasium with weight rooms and a full-sized basketball court, and two guard shacks. The office building (Building A) features large production and training areas as well as a below-grade Tier IV data center.

CEC is providing turn-key HVAC and plumbing build services for each of these buildings. Current work includes installation of the HVAC in the below-grade training and production areas. CEC is in the early stages of rough-in for the mechanical equipment in the data center. When complete, the team will have installed approximately 1,000 tons of air conditioning equipment and ductwork.

Polytechnic High School Addition & Renovation

The CEC mechanical team accomplished a heating water retrofit at this Fort Worth ISD high school. A steam boiler heated the existing building and steel pipe carried steam to base board heaters in the classrooms and common areas. CEC’s task was to convert the steam boiler to a hot water boiler, demolish the steam pipe and replace the old base board heaters. CEC made suggestions and assisted the design team into a functional piping system that would fit in the limited space. CEC overcame many uncommon hurdles in new construction, successfully installing 8,000 feet of copper pipe for the heating water along with making 13,000 press joints on the copper. CEC’s electrical team also provided additional services and labor during the project.
